102 teachers receive State awards on Teacher's Day
Kolhapur, Sep 5 (UNI) As many as 102 teachers from across Maharashtra were felicitated and bestowed with State awards for 2005-2006 at a glitering function held here today on the occasion of Teachers Day.
Speaking at the function, Maharashtra Education Minister Vasant Purke said that teachers have an imortant role to play since they are responsible for moulding the common students.
Mr Purke pointed out that children of rich parents can hone their taent by taking private tuitions but it is the added responsibility of the teachers to recognise and hone the talents of such students who can not afford to take private tuitions.
State Assembly Speaker Babasaheb Kupekar presided over the function. Maharashtra Minister of State for Education Hassan Mushriff also addressed the gathering.
