Two killed in Kashmir floods
Srinagar, Sep 4 (UNI) Two people have been confirmed dead so far in the floods that cut off about 2000 villages inhabited by several thousands people in the Kashmir valley following incessant rains for three days, a senior Jammu and Kashmir official said today.
With this, a total of six people have been killed in flood fury in the state so far.
However, unconfirmed reports said four people have died in the Valley in flash floods.
The two deaths were confirmed by Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir Basharat Ahmed Dhar.
He said both the people have died in Anantnag district of south Kashmir. One of them has been identified as Mohammad Chandi of Samba.
Earlier, six members of a family died and one suffered injuries in a house collapse due to a landslide triggered by heavy rains in Kathel village of Kathua district in Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday.
