PM pays tributes to Dadabhai Naoroji

New Delhi, Sep 4 (UNI) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today paid floral tributes at the portrait of Dadabhai Naoroji in the Central Hall of the Parliament on his 181st birth anniversary.

A great social and political reformer Dadabhai Naoroji was the first Indian to be elected to the British Parliament.

His effective role in the British Parliament during his brief stint (1892-1895) left a great imprint on the British Government.

Among others who joined the Prime Minister in paying floral tributes were Parliamentary Affairs Minister Priyaranjan Dasmunsi, MOS Suresh Pachouri and former member S.P. Malaviya.
