Militants shoot man for alleged rape attempt

Imphal, Sept 4: The United National Liberation Front's (UNLF) Central Special Force has shot a man at his leg for allegedly trying to rape a woman here. The man identified as Krishnadas(28) of Kakching, Thoubal district was produced before newsmen yesterday, before the UNLF shot him.

UNLF spokesperson said the man would be awarded capital punishment if he further repeats such crime.

After the woman lodged a complaint with the outfit an enquiry was made after which the youth confessed and surrendered.

Meanwhile, in yet another incident some miscreants burnt a vehicle of the State Horticulture Department at Mantripukhri yesterday, police said.

Fire tenders rushed to douse the fire, while, the police had started investigation.
