Kanha declared India's best tiger reserve
Bhopal, Sep 4 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh's Kanha Tiger Reserve has been declared India's best facility by the International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources (IUCN), state Forest Minister Himmat Kothari said here today.
''In a recent evaluation, Kanha scored 163 points of a maximum 185. The evaluation, based on 45 international standards accepted by the World Commission on Protected Area, included 28 Indian tiger reserves. This state's Pench, Panna, Bori-Satpura and Bandhavgarh scored 144, 135, 128 and 127 respectively,'' he said.
Kanha scored cent per cent on tourist management, wildlife estimate, daily patrolling, registration of weapons and several other points.
