Israeli sources deny accepting Annan to mediate-Web site

JERUSALEM, Sep 4 (Reuters) Israeli political sources today denied Israel had accepted an offer by United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan to mediate the release of two Israeli soldiers captured by Hizbollah, an Israeli Web site said.

''We did not agree for the United Nations and for Kofi Annan to be the mediators,'' the Israeli Web site YNET News quoted the political sources as saying. There was no immediate comment from the office of Prime Minister Ehud Olmert.
