Centre clears R
New Delhi, Sep 4 (UNI) The Ministry of Tribal Affairs has accorded clearance to the Relief and Rehabilitation plan of Komaram Bhim (Peddavagu) Medium Irrigation Project in Adilabad district of Andhra Pradesh.
Upon completion, the Rs 274.14 crore project will irrigate 24,500 acres of land besides providing drinking water to about 100,000 people in 42 villages in 4 mandals.
The project, likely to be completed by March 2007, has already received CWC and Forest clearance.
The state's special representative Dr Mallu Ravi said today, the scheme envisaged allotment of land to the project affected tribal families in the Command area before the start of submergence.
The Ministry has demanded that A P ensure protection of rights enjoyed by tribals, besides granting them fishing rights in the reservoir.
