BJP asks CBI probe into ISKCON attacks
Imphal, Sept 4: BJP, Manipur unit has demanded a CBI probe into the August 16 ISKCON temple blasts as the State Government has failed to nab the culprits.
The blast had claimed five lives including three children leaving several others and a few foreign devotees seriously injured on the eve of Janmastami celebrations.
State BJP Media Cell chairman Th Gogonbihari in a press release said 19 days have passed since the terrorists attacked the temple, however, the government have failed to grab any information.
He condemned the attacks as 'barbaric' and act of some sick minds.
He also negated Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh's argument that there was no security lapse on the day of attack.
"CM's argument was based on the fact that religious congregations in the past had never been the target of such acts," Mr Gogonbihari said.
Though the state police had announced Rs one lakh reward for providing information leading to identification of the culprits nothing concrete have been gathered till yet, he added.
The Manipur Peace and Integrity (MAPI) Council also held meetings to discuss regarding the blast.
