Tripura enters pre-quarters
Hyderabad, Sep 3 (UNI) Tripura entered the pre-quarter finals of All India Moinuddowla Gold Cup Cricket Tournament defeating Goa by an innings and 13 runs with more than a day to spare, here today.
In the other matches, Railways, Hyderabad Presidents XI and Assam gained first innings lead over their rivals.
Trailing by 157 runs, Goa began shakily in their second innings too. Their batting line up could not withstand the onslaught of tight bowling by Tushar Saha (15-1-40-5), Jayanta Debnath (2/56) and Rajib Saha (1/0).
Barring Sagun Kamat (30), Swapnil Asanodkar (29) and Vivek Kolambkar (21), others caved in meekly. Goa were all out at 144 in 39.1 overs.
HCA Presidents XI gained a crucial 108-run first innings lead over BSNL, thanks to Mohd Shakir's 62 runs in 179 minutes off 111 balls with two sixes and six fours.
S Anoop Pai supported him with 45 off 125 balls with five hits to the fence. Kamalesh Makwana was the most successful bowler taking three wickets for 94 runs.
Later, BSNL raced to 133 for the loss of four wickets in 104 minutes off just 20 overs, thanks to opener Monish Mishra's unbeaten knock of 52 in 53 balls and Joginder Sharma's half century (61 off just 47 balls). At the draw of stumps, BSNL gained a 25 run lead.

After dismissing Combined Districts XI for 164 in 69.2 overs, Railways raced to 223 for the loss of five wickets in 37 overs. They increased their overall lead to 372 runs with three overs remaining.
Sumit Biswal (71) Dhiren Salvi (57 balls, S Manjrekar (30, Karan Sharma (30) and Avit Malik (24), M Tripati (15) contributed to the Railways' strong position.
Meanwhile,Assam batsmen hitting hapless Jharkhand bowlers piled up a huge total of 386 runs for the loss of seven wickets in their first innings which earned them crucial 98 runs first innings lead.
Parag Das (77), Jason Lamare (63), Sarupam (60), Chandan Rawat (57) and Nishant Bordaloi (50 were the chief scorers for Assam.
