Third Front to be installed to oust Congress: Biman Basu

Barrackpore, Sep 3 (UNI) Left Front Chairman and West Bengal CPI(M) secretary Biman Basu called for beginning the process of forming a 'strong and viable' Third Front to oust Congress from the Centre as it had failed to fulfil UPA's much-hyped Common Minimum Programme.

The CPI(M) had provided them a conditional support, Mr Bose reminded.

Addressing an open meeting called by the Left Front at Sodepur here in North 24 Parganas today Mr Bose said, '' UPA is no different from NDA in the matter of economic and foreign policies.'' Mr Bose alleged that the UPA like the NDA could never come out with an open statement in the Parliament against US hegemony even though the US imperialists had been defying the UN Charters.

The Marxist leader said the country needs to build a large platform to establish the leftist ideology to form an alternative government.

He also urged the mass to maintain a strict vigil so as to prevent BJP to regain powers at the Centre. Besides, Mr Bose said the opposition in the state had been playing a vindictive role to thwart the industrial development planned by the Left Front.

He alleged the opposition was misguiding the people here in the name of famine, as the massive agricultural lands were being transformed into industrial plots.

''It's nothing but a propaganda as the state is having sufficient agricultural produces and would never face any sort of famine in future,'' Mr Bose said.

He also added that China had never faced such problems despite their vast land being utilised for several other purposes.

Mr Bose also alleged that women were brought from several places of the state to protest against land acquisition, whereas, none had their own land.

The meeting was called to raise voice against the Centre and in support of the proposed December 14 nationwide bandh.
