Tata's Voltas wins Bahrain City Centre order

Dubai, Sep 3: Voltas Ltd, a Tata group company, has won a Rs 495 crore electro-mechanical contract, the largest in Bahrain, for the Bahrain City Centre.

The company will deploy a pool experts and over 1500 workers to complete the project by June 2008, a company spokesman said.

''One third of the workforce will be from India, and the remaining will be deployed by various subcontractors,'' he added.

The main contractor for the contract is Cebarco-WCT, which carried out the Bahrain International Circuit project.

This is the third major job being undertaken by Voltas in Bahrain after completing the 10 million Baharain dollar works for the Bahrain International airport in three phases that concluded in 1996.

Some of the Voltas' projects covering airports, hospitals, hotels convention centres, techno parks, research and training centres, defence establishments, railway complexes and embassies, are undertaken by its joint venture partners in the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Oman .
