Sukhoi programme on schedule: HAL

Bangalore, Sep 3 (UNI) Defence aviation major Hindustan Aeronautics Limited today asserted that the Sukhoi-30 MKI programme is on schedule and there is no slippage.

Denying media reports quoting a Russian newspaper as ''completely incorrect'', HAL, in a release here, clarified that the total technology for Sukhoi was getting established in HAL as planned. The production of the fighter aircraft continued in HAL, it added.

The relesae said that to optimise investment and complete the programme of producing aircraft three years ahead of the scheduled year of 2018, as required by the IAF, HAL was sourcing certain components and systems from Russia.

The programme of indigenous production of Su-30 MKI in HAL was continuing at an accelerated pace as compared to the earlier plan, the release added.
