Bangalore, Sep 3: The Congress leaders in Karnataka today appealed to party President Sonia Gandhi to safeguard the interests of the State vis-a-vis its border dispute with Maharashtra.
KPCC President Mallikarjuna Kharge, in his welcome address at a massive rally attended by the party supremo here, said the sudden withdrawal of the original affidavit of the Union Home Ministry before the Supreme Court on the issue had led to widespread resentment in the State.
Former Chief Minister and Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly N Dharam Singh, who also spoke, said the border dispute with Maharashtra was a highly emotional issue and needed to be handled carefully.
Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy had warned the Centre that the latest decision on the row by the Centre would result in unrest in Northern Karnataka.
