Indian eves arrive to hero's welcome after beating England

Mumbai, Sep 3 (UNI) The Indian women's cricket returned to a hero's welcome this afternoon after winning the two-match Test series against England at Tauntan.

The Indian team, led by Mithali Raj, returned after beating England 1-0 in the series courtesy their five-wicket victory over the hosts at Tauntan on Friday.

Skipper Mithali, speaking to newspersons, praised the entire squad for pulling themselves up after a heavy 4-0 loss in the one-dayers to be able to notch up the great win.

She also praised Jhulan Goswami whose 10-wicket haul in the match was instrumental in shaping the victory.

''Jhulan bowled extremely well and with the support of the team we were able to achieve a creditable victory,'' she said.

Jhulan, the wrecker-in-chief said, ''After the one-day loss we had a lot to prove and I am glad the whole team responded under Mithali and we were able to pick ourselves up and secure this great victory.'' This was the first tour undertaken by the women's team after the merger of the women's wing with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
