Grand finale tonight at Fashion Week
New Delhi, Sep 3 (UNI) A Manish Malhotra grand finale show is to bring curtains down on five days of fashion mania and business at the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week sping-summer attended by over 70 Indian designers and 170 domestic and international buyers.
Bollywood actor Urmila Mataondkar is likely to spring a suprise by walking down the ramp at the grand finale tonight for the designer who is famous for his close association with Bollywood.
''It is going to be more than just a fashion show,'' said Malhotra, who is keeping his cards close to his chest.
The day five began with models in riding gear wanting to transform the ramp into a racing track for the Manoviraj Khosla show. The menswear collection was matched by helmets, goggles and riding boots giving a rugged feel to the event.
Designer Deepika Gehani's collection titled 'Jigsaw' for women drew a huge applause from the audience for their ''wearable'' and ''elegant'' appearance. Georgettes and silk textured in a jigsaw palette in spring pastels was for the ''classic women'', said Gehani after the show.
Designer Anita Dongre and Sunita Shanker presented their creations to be followed by Ranna Gill, Suneet Varma and Payal Jain.
The Miami Fashion Week wooed Indian designers for its April 2007 event where celebrated Indian-American designer Anand Jon established his credentials by winning a top award some years ago bringing him onto the international fashion scene.
Miami Fashion Week founder Beth Sobol, who is attending the India event, said the Miami show attended by designers from around the world was an ideal platform for the Indian designers to find a place on the global fashion map.
Yesterday, Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI), the apex body of fashion designers in the country, launched its official magazine titled 'Designer Mode'. ''The magazine will serve as an effective channel for connecting designers and members of the fashion fraternity,'' said FDCI Director-General Rathi Vinay Jha.
