German speed doors for Kashi Vishwanath security

Varanasi, Sep 3 (UNI) The highly sensitive Kashi Vishwanath-Gyanwapi security here will soon be equipped with German 'speed doors', much on the lines of a similar arrangement at the Siddhi Vinayak Temple in Mumbai.

The 'speed doors' to be installed at six entry points across the sensitive complex, will serve as an automatic check against any misadventure by ultras, Additional Police Superintendent (Gyanwapi Security) Jugal Kishore told UNI here today.

''These doors will be operated through the Kashi Vishwanath-Gyanwapi Security Control Room and in event of any ultra trying to storm into the complex, the gates will instantly close'' he added.

The traffic at the temple complex is under constant monitoring through CCTVs. In case any suspicious movement was spotted through the close circuit cameras, the speed doors will instantly be shut by pressing the control button in Control Room, Mr Kishore maintained.

The new arrangements costing between Rs 10 to 12 lakhs will be further bolstered through three turnstiles, also on lines of the Mumbai temple, to ensure a double security check in case of any ultra strike.

''The turnstiles have been proposed to the Uttar Pradesh government. This arrangement after the speed doors will ensure that if the ultras managed to somehow sneak into the complex despite the German doors, they will not be able to breach the turnstiles and will subsequently be trapped between two sophisticated doors, only to eliminated by security personnel,'' the ASP added.
