Dissolution of NC Hills Autonomous Council demanded
Guwahati, Sep 3 (UNI) Various North Cachar Hills district-based organisations today demanded the dissolution of the executive body of the NC Hills Autonomous Council (NCHAC) for alleged financial irregularities and high-handedness.
A joint delegation of the Autonomous State Demand Committee (ASDC), Dimasa Students' Union, Dimasa Women's Society and ASDC Mahila Sangathan called on the Governor yesterday.
Informing this at a joint press meet here, ASDC Mahila Sangathan general secretary Bedomita Deb said the Governor had assured of prompt action in this regard.
The joint delegation alleged that the executive body of the NCHAC, led by Chief Executive Member (CEM) Purnendu Langthasa, had squandered large amount of money meant for various developmental activities in the district.
Government contracts, jobs and other facilities were being provided to people hand-picked by the executive committee, without any respect to local sentiments and progress, it further alleged.
The organisations also demanded CBI enquiry into alleged land scam of present MLA G C Langthasa when he was the CEM of the NCHAC.
