CPI(M) says flood relief inadequate
Bhopal, Sep 3 (UNI) Describing as ''inadequate'' the Centre's interim relief of Rs 100 crore for Madhya Pradesh's flood-affected areas, the CPI(M) demanded that the Government should formulate a comprehensive scheme for flood-ravaged states.
''Excessive rain caused extensive loss in the state capital and several other areas. Maharashtra, Gujarat, Orissa, Rajasthan and other states suffered equally,'' CPI(M) General Secretary Prakash Karat told reporters here.
Accusing this state's regime of not fulfilling its responsibility, he added that surveys were yet incomplete in several areas and ration had not reached slum clusters.
Criticising the state government's role in the case relating to a professor's death in Ujjain, Mr Karat demanded a CBI probe. ''The regime is attempting to save the guilty,'' he alleged.
