BMC invites suggestions on proposed cleanliness byelaws
Mumbai, Sept 3 (UNI) Brihanmumbai Municipal Commissioner Johny Joseph has urged Mumbaikars to send their suggestions and objections if any to the proposed Cleanliness and Sanitation By-laws 2006.
Mr Joseph, in a statement, said citizens should participate in a debate on the draft byelaws, discuss its provisions, and make their suggestions within one month.
According to the proposed byelaws, it is intended to raise the fine from the present Rs 50 to Rs 500 for those who were found littering, spitting, bathing, urinating, defecating, feeding animals, or washing utensils on civic land or property.
It is proposed to impose a fine ranging from Rs 500 to Rs 10,000 for sticking of posters or painting walls of such property.
