Baigh submits resignation as Dy CM; meets Azad
Srinagar, Sep 3 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Muzaffar Hussain Baigh today submitted his resignation from the state Cabinet to Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad.
Well-placed sources said Mr Baigh met Mr Azad and submitted his resignation from the post of Deputy Chief Minister and as Finance, Planning, Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister.
The move was expected to end the ongoing political crisis in the state and set at rest the controversy surrounding Mr Baigh.
Addressing a news conference here yesterday, Mr Baigh had said that he had decided to resign from the state Cabinet as he does not want to destablise the coalition government in the state, drag the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Congress into a collision course or thrust mid-term elections on the people.
The sources said Mr Baigh requested Mr Azad to relieve him of his duties as the Deputy Chief Minister and as the Finance, Planning, Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister.
