'Ahmadinejad affirms support for Lebanon resolution'

Tehran, Sep 3: Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad reaffirmed his support for a UN resolution backing the ceasefire that ended a 34-day war in Lebanon, UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan said today.

Annan met the Iranian president on the second day of a visit to Tehran during which he discussed the Israeli war with Iranian-backed Hizbollah guerrillas and UN efforts to establish a lasting truce in Lebanon.

''He also reaffirmed his country's support for the implementation of Resolution 1701 and agrees with me that we should do everything to strengthen the territorial integrity of Lebanon,'' Annan said.
