TRS challenges Cong to come for debate on development

Hyderabad, Sep 2 (UNI) Debunking the ruling Congress claim that the state was witnessing all-round development in the Telangana region under the Rajasekhara Reddy regime, the Telangana Rashtra Samiti, today challenged the ruling party to a public debate on the issue.

''The very fact that the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme is implemented in all the Telangana district is enough proof of the backwardness of the region,'' senior TRS leader B Vinod, MP, said at a press conference here.

It was astonishing that the Congress was projecting the implementation of the wage employment scheme as an achievement concealing the fact that the most backward districts in the country were selected for its implementation, he said.

''It is a shame on the part of the Congress, which has ruled the state for long that the region has remained neglected since Independence,'' he added.

Disputing the ruling party's claim over employment generation in the industrial sector in the Telangana region, the TRS leader contended that most of the jobs generated in public and private sectors in the region, were, in fact, cornered by the Andhra people.

He wanted the Governent to make public the region-wise data of those employed in the Secretariat, state government departments and state-owned corporations.
