Tripura govt gears up HIV/AIDS control programme
Agartala, Sep 2 (UNI) The Tripura government has started several AIDS control programme after 120 HIV postitive cases were detected in the the state.
Though the number of HIV positives in the state is very low as compared to other neighbouring states, the AIDS Control Society, with the approval of the National AIDS Control Organisation (NACO), have taken up preventive measures, official sources said here today.
NACO has started organising discussions, workshops and AIDS awareness advertisments in print and electronic media to create awareness among people.
NACO would regularly inspect the programmes carried out by the NGO's to prevent HIV/AIDS and provide them with funds.
The Voluntary Counselling Testing Centre (VCTC) in the three district hospitals of the state would check the HIV status of the patients.
