Start delayed by rain

NEW YORK, Sep 2 (Reuters) Rain delayed the start of play at the US Open today.

Play was due to get underway at 1500 GMT (2030 hrs ist) with Tatiana Golovin of France scheduled to play fifth seed Nadia Petrova of Russia in the opening match on Arthur Ashe Court.

With more rain anticipated, play is not expected to begin before at least 1700 GMT (2230 hrs ist).
