Police register cases against medicos for ragging
Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh, Sep 2 (UNI) Police registered cases against three medical students, already suspended by the college authorities for forcing their juniors to undress as part of ragging.
Talking to reporters here, District Superintendent of Police (SP) Malla Reddy said they had registered cases against the three students. He warned the students that they would not only loose their careers and job prospects, but also face imprisonment for ragging.
Tension prevailed at the Kurnool Medical College when the students, knew that the arrest of the senior students was imminent.
Seniors demanding a lenient attitude towards the incident, raised slogans against the Principal, who was transferred to Kadapa after the incident, the SP said.
The senior students called three first year students Kartik, Siddaiah and Pradipkumar Reddy to their room, made them undress and walk on their knees. The young students were only released after three hours.
Based on the complaint, the Principal suspended a third year student, Srinivas for two years and the other two for six months for abetting the crime.
Police said they would arrest the culprits and prosecute them.
