JMM candidate withdraws from purulia bypol

Purulia, Sep 2 (UNI) Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) candidate Surya Narayan Mahato withdrew his nomination on the last day of withdrawal today for the September 16 byelection to Purulia Lok Sabha seat.

In all eight candidates are in the fray for the seat.

The candidates are Mr Nara Hari Mahato (Forward Bloc), Mr Shanti Ram Mahato (Congress), Mr Dhirandra Nath Mahato (Janata Dal United), Mr Subarna Kumar (SUCI), Mr Anil Kumar Chowdhury (All Jharkhand Students Union), Mr Abhiram Besra (Jharkhand Disham), Mr Mritunjoy Mahato (Indian People's Forward Bloc) and Mr Abinash Soren (Amra Bangalee).

The bypoll was necessitated following the resignation of Forward Bloc MP Bir Singh Mahato after he was sentenced by Purulia district court on May 12.
