Srinagar, Sep 1 (UNI) Hundreds of passengers have been stranded on the 300-km Srinagar-Jammu national highway as it continued to remain closed for the second day today due to landslides triggered by heavy rains since yesterday, a traffic official said.

He said the highway was closed yesterday morning after heavy rains triggered shooting stones and landslides at various places.

The official said the Border Roads organisation (BRO) men have been mobilised and they were working to clear the highway for vehicular traffic.

He said the BRO men were facing difficulties in getting the highway cleared because of non-stop rains since yesterday.

The official said hundreds of passengers and vehicles have been stranded at several places along the highway due to landslides.

The official said the 434-km Srinagar-Leh highway had also been closed due to landslides at several places.

He said the BRO men were clearing the road of landslides and the highway was expected to open soon.

Meanwhile, an Airport official said all flights have been normal despite heavy rains since yesterday morning.
