India should help Lanka to solve ethnic crisis: Wikremasinghe

Chennai, Sep 2 (UNI) Former Sri Lankan President Ranil Wikremasinghe today said that India should help the island nation to find a lasting solution to its ethnic crisis.

Mr Wickremasinghe, who was on a private visit here, told newspersons at the airport that India has been helping Sri Lanka to find a lasting peace and it should continue to do so.

''India should help to bring the conflict to end, support the territorial integrity of Sri Lanka and find a lasting peace,'' he said, replying to a question.

On the status of the Norway initiated peace talks between the Sri Lankan Government and the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), he said ''you must ask the Government, LTTE and Norway.'' Asked about the bomb blast incident targeting the Pakistan High Commissioner, he said the Sri Lankan Government had already said that the LTTE was responsible for the blast.
