IAF Motor Cycle expedition

Shillong, Sept 2 (UNI) As a sequel to the IAF Platinum Jubilee celebrations, Indian Air Force station, Digaru under Eastern Air Command has organised a motor cycle expedition from Digaru near Guwahati to Kerang Plateau (North of Gangtok and Indo-China Border) and back to Digaru via Shillong.

The expedition was led by Wing Commander S K Singh and it comprised of 11 Air Warriors. The expedition was flagged-off by Air Officer Commanding in-Chief, Eastern Air Command, Air Marshal F H Major on August 21, last from Air Force station Digaru.

The expedition covered a total distance of 2100 kms spread over a period for 15 days. The team traveled through the plains of Bramaputra, criss-cross serpentine roads of Nathula Pass and climbed the uncharted heights to the Kerang Plateau in North Sikkim.

The expedition team arrived at HQ Eastern Air Command, Shillong today. The team was flagged-in at Shillong by Air Marshal P K Barbora VM, Senior Air Staff Officer, EAC.

All personnel of HQ EAC and their families welcomed the expedition team. The team was also felicitated by Mrs Zareen Major, President Air Force Wives Welfare Association (Regional) for their adventurous spirit and presented mementos and certificates to the participants.
