Deputy Education Officer arrested
Sangli, Maharashtra, Sep 2 (UNI) The Tasgaon tehsil police of this district arrested a Deputy Education Officer for allegedly accepting bribes.
Police said today, the arrested officer, identified as Sukhadev Sanap (47), was working as Deputy Education Officer in Zilla Parishad, Kolhapur. According to a complaint filed by Arvind Mohan Kamble, Sanap accepted Rs 50,000 from him, promising him a job in Sangli Zilla Parishad.
Immediately after filing the complaint, police nabbed Sanap from his house at village Vanjarwadi in Tasgaon tehsil last night.
Another person, Mahesh Mane (32), of Aandhli village in Palus taluka of the district, through whom the money has paid has also been arrested.
Mane was reportedly involved in cheating the jobless people using State Deputy Chief Minister R R Patil's letterhead, the police sources said.
Investigation are on to find how many people were cheated, the police added.
