Hyderabad, Sep 2 (UNI) Telugu Desam Party leaders Y Dayakara Rao and Narender Reddy today alleged that the Congress government in Andhra Pradesh had failed to honour its promises made in election manifesto.

Addressing a press conference at the party office here, the leaders pointed out that the Congress had promised to provide electricity for 12 hours to the farmers before the elections. But the Congress government had failed to supply power regularly even for seven hours a day.

The leaders charged the state government with failing to properly utilise electricity even though the State had the capacity to generate 11,600 mw of power.

They demanded that the government should install 1,000 transformers in Rayalaseema and Telangana districts so that farmers in these districts get uninterupted power regularly.

''We will meet Chief Minister Rajasekhara Reddy on September 4 listing the farmers demand to provide regular power supply and to protect the interest of peasants of Rayalaseema and Telangana reeling under drought,'' they added.
