Siddharthnagar, Sep 2 (UNI) To avoid any terrorist activity along the 305-km long Indo-Nepal border adjoining districts of Eastern Uttar Pradesh districts, Shashastra Seema Bal (SSB) has decided to double the number of its posts.

SSB's Deputy Inspector General (DIG) H S Dev today said the districts comprise Maharajganj, Siddharthnagar, Balrampur and Shravasti.

So far, there were 45 security posts, of which 12 each were in Balrampur, Maharajganj and Siddharthnagar, while nine in Shravasti.

Now it would be increased to 72.

Mr Dev said Rs 5.28 crore had been sanctioned for construction of 48 posts to keep watch on the border, Rs 4,56 crore for 24 company headquarters and Rs 89.28 lakh for the construction of watch towers.

For this, the land has been purchased at 16 places including six sites in Maharajganj, two in Siddharthnagar, while two in Balrampur and five in Shravasti.

Talks with the forest department were on for the construction of posts in balrampur and shravasti, he said.

At a conference of Indo-Nepal Joint Working Group in Kathmandu, it was decided to develop five radio centres to keep an eye over crime and smuggling near the international border.

With the help of modern weapons, sniffer dogs and hidden cameras, SSB would leave no stone unturned to check crime.
