24-hr prohibitory orders issued for Ganesh immersion
Hyderabad, Sep 2 (UNI) The city police have issued orders prohibiting unlawful assembly of people, sale of liquor and possession of offensive weapons in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad for 24 hours from o6oo hrs on September 5 on account of the immersion of Ganesh idols here.
Issuing the orders, city Police Commissioner A K Mohanty said the prohibition was to ensure peace in the cities during the immersion of idols that marked the end of the Ganesh Chaturthi festival.
During the period, liquor shops and bars, including those attached to eateries, in both the cities would have to down their shutters, he said.
Public would not be allowed to hold any kind of meetings and processions within Hyderabad and Secunderabad, without obtaining prior permission from the law and order officials concerned.
Carrying of arms such as swords, spears, bludgeons, guns, explosives, knives, sticks and other weapons with or without flags in the twin cities was also prohibited, he added.
