Vadodara rocked by fresh violence
Vadodara, Aug 31 (UNI) After three days of lull, the walled city area here was again rocked by fresh violence following forcible removal of encroachments by the Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) authorities.
Police sources said the forcible eviction late this evening on the busy Raj Mahal Road led to communal violence in the area with members belonging to two communities indulging in heavy stone pelting.
Police resorted to a lathicharge to deter the warring groups, which damaged several kiosks and tried to set a house afire.
Soon after, the violence spread to Madanjhampa road and a mob was seen pelting each other with stones.
Claiming that no one was injured in the violence, police said the situation in the walled city area was tense but under control.
No one has been arrested so far.
Police patrolling has been further intensified in all sensitive areas.
