Ultra arrested in police raid

Jamshedpur, Sep 1 (UNI) Launching a combing operations in the naxalite-affected Ghatshila block of East Singhbhum district,police arrested a hardcore ultra from Tikri village near Jharkhand-West Bengal border today.

Superintendent of Police Ashish Batra told newsmen that acting on a tip-off the district police team conducted a raid in the area and nabbed Pradip Mandal alias Dilip alias Mahesh,a member of the proscribed CPI(Maoist) outfit.

Mr Batra said the ultra hailed from West Bengal and belonged to Platoon 42 of the outfit. More than two dozen cases of landmine blast and murder of police personnel were pending against the rebel,he said.
