U-19 chess tourney from Sep 7

Kozhikode, Sep 1 (UNI) Nearly 100 players, including FIDE-rated ones from various parts of Kerala, would take part in the Under-19 Comtrust Charitable Trust Trophy Chess Tournament beginning here on September 7.

FIDE-rated talents who confirmed participation were Sachin, Aparna (Kannur), Sreejith (Thiruvananthapuram), Rahul Manohar (Thrissur), Mohammed Hawas (Malappurm), Saji Issac (Ernakulam), Arjun P K (Wayanad), Sanjith Latheef, Mohammed Dilshad, Niji Prem Nath, Aathira C P and Athul Krishna (all Kozhikode), K R Madhusoodan, general secretary of the city-based Indian Arts and Sports Academy told reporters here today.

Patron of the chess tournament trust P K Krishnanunni would inaugurate the two-day event, he said.

A non-medals tournament for new comers would also be held, he added.
