Mulayam making false announcements: Mayawati

Lucknow, Sep 1 (UNI) Equating Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav with his predecessor Rajnath Singh for making inconsequental announcements, BSP president Mayawati today said the three year regime of the former had pushed the state back by 30 years.

''Like Mr Rajnath Singh, Mr Yadav is also fond of making announcements everyday without fulfilling them,'' she told a press coneference here.

Dismissing what she described as 'tall claims' of the ruling Samajwadi Party-led dispensation about development during its three year regime, Ms Mayawati said these were farce and the state would have to pay dearly for it.

Blasting the Mulayam Singh government on its much-acclaimed scheme of unemployment allowance and Kanya Vidya Dhan for poor girls, Ms Mayawati minced no words in discarding these by saying the schemes were aimed to benifit the Samajwadi Party cadre.

She came down heavily on bureaucrats for being active in the political functions and said it was against the service rules. The observation of Ms Mayawti came a day after the Congress objected to state chief secretary Navin Chandra Bajpai attending a party programme to mark the completion of three years in office of the Chief Minister.

''The officers should resign before indulging in political activities,''she said.

Continuing its tirade agianst deteriorating law and order situation in the state, Ms Mayawati said the state government was already on the ventilator but all its effort would go in vain as the Mulayam Singh government was bound to be thrown out of power.
