LIC to launch new Bima Gold policy soon

Jamshedpur, Sept 1 (UNI) Encouraged by a huge sale of ''Bima Gold'' policies nation-wide, LIC will shortly introduce ''New Bima Gold'' with some new features, Senior Divisional Manager of the company D P Mohanty said here today.

Talking to mediapersons on the occasion of celebration of 50th anniversary of LIC here today, Mr Mohanty said during the last fiscal, LIC created history by selling 1.03 crore Bima Gold policies within seven months. The Jamshedpur division, however, 1.27 lakh Bima Gold polices were sold during the period of September 2005 to March 2006.

He said LIC's Bima Gold policy may find a place in the Guiness Book of World Records for being the highest-selling single plan within such a short period.

Mr Mohanty said despite stiff competition with 13 other private players, LIC registered unprecedented growth record in terms of new business during the last fiscal. In 2005-06, LIC underwrote 3.5 crore new policies and achievedbest ever growth of 31.77 percent.

He said LIC, being one of the biggest investors in the stock market, had invested more than Rs 9000 crore in 2005-06. The insurance company is planning to invest Rs 10,000 crore in equity in 2006-07.
