Kidwai stresses awareness on Vande Mataram
Panaji, Sept 1: The All India Congress Committtee, minority department, Chairman Mr Imran Kidwai today said an awareness campaign should be started through Doordarshan and other electronic media to popularise 'Vande Mataram' as 99 per cent of the minority community do not even know ''the correct meaning of the song''. ''It is supposed to be sung by all, as it is our national song and as important as our national anthem,'' he said.
Interacting with the media here, Mr Kidwai said the Congress was fully prepared to face the electorate, and was confident of wining a majority on it's own.
Regarding reservation of tickets for members from the minority community, he said that the sole criteria while issuing tickets would be the winning potential of the candidate.
Mr Kidwai alleged that the security of minorities is at peril in BJP ruled states.
Regarding India's request to Bangladesh to destroy terror-camps on its soil, Mr Kidwai said the issue should be resolved through mutual discussions.
