JK House Comm probes appointments since 1996

Srinagar, Sep 1 (UNI) The House Committee constituted to probe the appointments made under various categories in Jammu and Kashmir since 1996 met here and discussed issues related to the matter.

Due to induction of Prem Sagar Aziz, who was the Chairman of the Committee in the Ministry, senior member Sharief-ud-din Sharik chaired the meeting here, an offical spokesman said today.

In response to the Assembly Secretariat's communication, he said some departments furnished the information, but others have not provided the requisite details as desired by the Committee.

The available details would be examined thoroughly by the House Committee in its future meetings, the spokesman added.

He said Committee member Balwant Singh Mankotia resented the government's decision related to the enhancement of wages of such appointees whose cases were under examination.

Mr Mankotia alleged that since the matter was sub-judice, the government should have observed restraint till the Committee came out with its findings on the issue.

The meeting was attended by legislators Ashwani Sharma, Shanti Devi and G M Jan, Forests Commissioner-cum-Secretary Najam-u-Saqib, State Forest Corporation MD Aijaz Ahmad, Assembly Additional Secretary Mohammad Ramzan and officials of the Home and Education Departments UNI AG AK BS1319
