Jammu-Srinagar, Srinagar-Leh highways closed
Srinagar, Sep 1 (UNI) The 300-km Srinagar-Jammu national highway has been closed due to shooting stones triggered by heavy rains at Banthal this morning, a traffic police official said.
He said the highway was closed after heavy rains since early this morning triggered shooting stones at Banthal between Ramban and Banihal.
The official said the Border Roads organisation (BRO) men have been mobilised and they were working to clear the highway for vehicular traffic.
However, he said the BRO men were facing difficulties in getting the highway cleared because of incessant rains.
The official said the 434-km Srinagar-Leh highway had also been closed due to landslides at Captain Mor.
He said the BRO men were clearing the road of landslides and the highway was expected to open by tomorrow morning.
