Hydel projects in Chhattisgarh's naxal areas
Raipur, Sep 1 (UNI) The Chhattisgarh government has granted administrative sanction for setting up nine small hydel power projects in the naxalite infested Bastar region.
These projects, which will have the generation capacity of 114 MW, would be set up at an estimated cost of Rs 594 crore, official sources said.
Chhattisgarh Renewable Energy Development Authority(CREDA), which is the nodal agency for promoting small hydel power projects upto 25 MW, has already entrusted the work on construction of these projects with private sector investment.
According to an assessment made by CREDA, atleast 300 MW power could be generated within the state by setting up small hydel power projects. Besides, a policy has also been formulated for attracting private investment in this sector.
