Heavy rains pounds Rajasthan again

Jaipur, Sep 1 (UNI) Heavy rains lashed Rajasthan yet again, especially in Udaipur and Kota divisions with the weather office warning of more torrential rains in the next 24 hours.

Kota, Bundi, Jhalawar, Banswara and Chittor are again witnessing heavy rains. The weather office has predicted heavy downpours for Ajmer, Kota and Udaipur divisions in the next 24 hours.

Many roads have been blocked in Kota division due to continuous downpour. At least 35 people were rescued from a hill top today at Aklera-Khanpur road in Jhalawar district after they were caught unawares in the downpour. All dams and water bodies of Hadoti area in Kota division are overflowing.

With heavy rains lashing Madhya Pradesh, water inflow has also increased in Gandhi Sagar dam. Around 10 gates of Kota barrage have been opened to discharge one lakh cusec water into Chambal river.

Notably the 1,312 feet deep Gandhi Sagar dam is also overflowing after many years.

The weather office recorded 170 mm rain at Asnawar in Jhalawar district whereas Banswara, Bakani and Arnod recorded 160 mm. Aklera, Dug, Pirawa recorded 130 mm, while Kota, Chittorgarh and Bundi recorded 100 mm.

The state capital is witnessing incessant rains since yesterday and 20.7 mm rains have been recorded till today morning.
