Attack on Chief Justice: Barabanki DM, SP summoned

Lucknow, Sep 1 (UNI) The Lucknow Bench of Allahabad High Court today summoned the Barabanki district magistrate and superintendent of police on September 8 in connection with the attack on Chief Justice Ajoy Nath Ray's official vehicle.

The order was passed by a bench comprising Justices K S Rakhra and J M Paliwal on a petiton seeking a stay on his arrest filed by Kuldip Maurya, a prime accused in the case.

The court has also sommoned the progress report from the police in the case.

A case was registered against the accused on August 11 at Lonikatra police station, Barabanki. He has been charged under various sections of the IPC for arson and attack.

Allahabad HC Chief Justice A N Ray escaped unhurt in the incident.
