5 convicted for murder, sentenced to life imprisonment

Akola, Sep 1 (UNI) A local court in neighbouring Washim district has sentenced five people to life imprisonment, holding them guilty of murdering a person two years back.

Three others have been acquitted.

Additional sessions judge S D Darne has also imposed a fine of Rs 5000 each on Yusuf Khan, Abdul Khaliq, Abdul Ansar, Abdul Sharik and Abdul Khalil. The judge directed that out of the total fine amount Rs 20,000 should be paid to the widow of the victim.

According to the prosecution case, Abdul Salim Abdul Mannan was attacked on November 12, 2004, by the accused for grazing his cattle on their land. The victim was stabbed by sharp weapons and succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at the Akola general hospital.
