UPA govt responsible for price rise: Buddhadeb
Sikar, Aug 31: West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharya today said the UPA government was responsible for the price rise and resulting inflation.
While addressing a rally against the rising prices here, Mr Bhattacharya said the common man is in difficulty as even wheat and pulses have become expensive these days.
He said that the Central government's policies are against farmers' interest and thus farming equipment, seeds and food have become costly. The farmers are not getting any returns on selling or exporting their produce.
Criticising the UPA government, he said the CPM will always side with the common man and will point out the lapses and weakenesses of the Centre. He said the Left is supporting the Congress under compulsion as there is no other alternative.
He, however, termed the BJP as more dangerous than Congress as it is responsible for the rift between Hindus and Muslims but said all those anti-communal organisations are being rooted out in West Bengal who are trying to whip up Hindu fundamentalism in the state.
He regretted the dismal conditions of farmers in Rajasthan and paid his tributes to these gunned down by police during the Kisan Protest rally in Tonk and Ganganagar.
