UN report on world populaton to be released on September 6

Thane, Aug 31 (UNI) A United Nations Population Fund report on the state of World Population will be released here on September 6.

The report is being released globally on September 6 and will be released simultaneously in Maharashtra at a function here at the same day.

The United Nations Population Fund launches the State of World Population Report (SWPR) every year, documenting the regional and country level projections related to population and development.

State Programme Officer Anuja Gulati told UNI this year's report entitled ''A Passage to Hope'' focuses on ''Women and International Migration''. The report examines the impact of female labour migration and discusses both the benefits and ills of globalisation and exploitation of female domestic workers.

Principal Secretary Anna Dani will be the chief guest while International Institute of Population Science, Mumbai, director Dr Mari Bhat will be the guest of honour and receive the first copy.
