Tripura stress on water and communication

Agartala, Aug 31 (UNI) Tripura government has stressed on the need to develop supply of clean drinking water and improve surface communication this year under the 'Sampurna Gramin Rojgar Yojna' (SGRY) scheme.

Speaking to media persons here last night, State Rural Development Minister Jitendra Chowdhury said for development of rural areas, the state would spend Rs 50 crore 93 lakhs under the SGRY scheme.

It would aim to see that development works was going on in full swing throughout the state, he added.

Utmost importance has been given on the drinking water and surface communication and for this purpose separate plans had been taken up in each block. The state had receive Rs 2 crore 7 lakh under 'sajal dhara' scheme from which the state government spent an amount of Rs 85 lakhs so far for this purpose.

The union government has given additional Rs 3 crore 34 lakh 20 thousand as prize money for the state government's success in the rural development works during the 2005-06 financial year, the minister said.
