Sri Sugunendra Thirtha sswamiji elected

Udupi, Aug 31 (UNI) Sri Sugunendra Thirtha Swamji of Puttige Mutt has been relected for the second time as "President of the World Conference on Religions and Peace" at its three-day Eighth Convention held recently at Kyoto in Japan.

The Mutt in a release here said that Swamiji would hold the president post for the next five years. Earlier, he was elected as president of the Convention for the first time in 1999 at the Seventh Convention held in Amman in Jordan.

The Seer had sent a writtten message as he could not attend the convention due to " Chaturmasya Vrata", the release said. At present, he is on a four month "Chaturmaysa at Mumbai.
