Services at govt mints declared as public utility for 6 months

New Delhi, Aug 31 (UNI) The Centre has declared services in India Government Mints at Kolkata, Mumbai, Noida, Cherlapally (Ranga Reddy) and Hyderabad as public utility service under the Industrial Dispute Act, 1947.

In a notification issued here today, the Labour and Employment Ministry said this is being done in public interest for six months with effect from August 28.

The employees in these Mints would among other things, be required to give notice to their employers six weeks in advance of proceeding on strike so that conciliatory proceedings could be started. During the conciliatory proceedings and seven days after their completion, the employees cannot go on strike, the notification added.
